JAWBONE GERMAN MAGNETS, WINTER 2014

Client: Genix Imaging
Commission: Aliph Ltd

AS3D input: Alexander Smith developed the creative execution for this project together with the in-house team at Jawbone, working fast to develop a final specification in one sitting, to send off for quotation and to enter into production as quickly as possible. Alexander managed the technical designs, sourcing of suppliers and costings and oversaw the whole production process.

The units were designed as a smaller version of a previous installation in Selfridges (see Selfridges Summer 2014) in order to continue the already established brand identity relating to Jawbone's pop up retail experiences. The difference was that these were to be installed over two days in 5 different Saturn electrical stores across Germany. We included a touch screen experience too which triggered a change in the screen content as people approached the unit. The sub-structure was made from particle board and ply and clad in thermoformed and machined white hi-macs solid surface material. We had to give special consideration to cooling the large format TV screen, so we designed the back end to act as a chimney to suck air in through the bottom through two large vents and then to expel the hot air out through vents in the top. Access to the screen and touch screen was easy with a 'car bonnet' style opening. Product was displayed and stored in a secure lockable glass fronted hanging area below the screen.
